Ezemvelo Nature Reserve, is a true African bush experience located near Bronkhorstspruit. Not far from Johannesburg and Pretoria, this little piece of heaven provided us with a relaxing, rejuvenating bushveld getaway. This 4500 hectare land promotes the conservation and sustainability of its wildlife, birdlife, and plant species. We were blessed to have seen giraffes, wildebeest, warthogs, ostriches, and a wide variety of wildlife on our adventure.
There are 5, 15 and 21km trails available
The route is easily manageable, family-friendly, well-marked and easily navigable

The route is easily manageable and is family-friendly. It is well-marked and easily navigable. It's mainly a flat route with rocky elevations at times. It gave us a variety of landscapes ranging from open veld to more rocky, hilly areas.

Field Notes:
Comfortable, cool clothing is recommended especially during the summer months. Sufficient hydration and energy snacks and fruit are a must. Our Merrell shoes gave us stability and grip en route. We used hiking sticks to provide us with support, but it's not essential. Always be aware and cautious of wildlife whilst walking and being respectful in their territory.

We were hosted in a comfortable chalet with all the basic amenities available. Our highlight was having the Wildebeest grazing close to our chalet and providing us with such a special sighting and wildlife experience! We were able to cool down with a refreshing swim in the pool after having such lovely weather and ended off our day with a good braai at the dam and our chalet.
