Forestiva Farm is a private nature reserve in the Rhenosterspruit Conservancy. It's a 40-minute drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria. Voets Toets Hiking ventured out with avid fellow hikers to explore this piece of paradise.

Route:
We completed the 12 km route and rated it as moderate in difficulty. The route starts with a walk along the Hennops River which led us into grassy land terrain. The route led us back to the river where we had beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and enjoyed a few quiet moments listening to the water. This route took us over a vast piece of land and exposed us to various parts of the surrounding landscape. The mountaintop view was truly spectacular and gave us an opportunity to catch our breath after a challenging walk up the mountain.

Field Notes:
The trail was fairly flat most of the way with a few areas being quite rocky with inclines. Merrell shoes and a hiking stick are recommended. Even though it was winter time, the heat did descend upon us as we were nearing the end. Good sun protection and hydration are essential.

It was a wonderful day out with a wonderful group of people! The camaraderie, support and good laughs along the way made a challenging hike a worthwhile one! The owners welcomed us with open arms and we felt safe and secure on their farm. The venue has accommodation, and day braai facilities available. Put this trail on your list!
