Route:
Voets Toets Hiking completed the shorter guided route and rated it as easy to moderate. It's a pet friendly hike, so your fur babies are welcome to join.🐶
The owner's doggy joined us on our adventure and led us safely along the route. It's a rocky trail which takes you up the Mountain of Faith. This mountain is often visited by people of faith who want to use the tranquillity of nature to praise and worship.
The route then takes you along the side of the mountain and down into a gorge, where you will see the Magalies River. The route then goes back up the mountain and leads you back to the lodge. We were cautioned that there is a troop of baboons that make their way through the route, so it's important to be vigilant and respectful of the wildlife in the area.
Field Notes:
We could feel that Spring is on its way with the beautiful warm weather, so sufficient sunscreen and sun protection are a must! A hiking stick will give you stability as you navigate the rocky path and our Merrell footwear always saves the day.

Hornbill Lodge's slogan is "Come in as guests, Leave as family" and they live up to their motto! Our knowledgeable guide, Benjamin, gave us a wonderful history of the land and surroundings. We enjoyed a hearty braai next to the river and felt at peace. The venue offers accommodation and the use of day visitor facilities such as the swimming pool and braai area. A restaurant is also on site which has a variety of delicious meals to enjoy. Give this venue a visit, you'll enjoy the relaxation and peace it has to offer.
