A moderately easy trail

Sun protection, hiking stick, hydration, energy snacks, and a pair of Merrells for the slippery terrain in the gorge

Route:

We rated the trail completed as moderate. It was well marked. Our adventure started with a gradual incline up the Magaliesberg Mountain Range, leading us through stunning rock formations. We encountered a troop of baboons en route, so dogs have to be on a leash at all times. We circled round on the mountainside and made our way down towards the gorge. With the recent rains, there's plenty of rock pools to cool off in, but be careful of the slippery conditions.

Field Notes:

It was an overcast day, but remember, sun protection is always needed. A hiking stick is highly recommended for navigating the gorge and rocky areas. Shoes with excellent grip are required for the slippery terrain in the gorge. Our preferred Merrells did the trick. Hydration and energy snacks are also needed.

Trail Log:

The trail was moderate and involved a lot of scrambling over rocks in the gorge. Apart from that, it was relatively easygoing. There is safe parking as well as ablution facilities. This was truly a stunning hike with beautiful surroundings and is highly recommended! 👌
