The route was well-maintained and well-marked. The gardens and trail were absolutely beautiful with the lawns looking so lush and green! Despite us doing the shorter distance of 5.5 km, it was still a good cardio and whole-body muscle workout. The route is slightly technical with a lot of negotiating around rocks and loose stones. The marshals were amazing, always having a word of encouragement and cheering everyone on. Our route waterpoint was situated at the 3 km mark and was a welcoming site to see. It was well stocked with water, cool drinks, and an assortment of snacks ranging from watermelon, bananas, raisins and energy-boosting jellies. The panoramic views from the top of the mountain were breathtaking and well worth the climb. Towards the end, we could hear the Witpoortjie waterfall in the distance and knew our journey was reaching its end.

It was a traditional South African summer day, so enough hydration is essential. We didn't use our hiking sticks this time around, but if you need that extra stability, it is recommended. Our Merrell Footwear once again came to the party and provided us with much-needed grip and support.
