We had more than 80 hikers register for this hike and 64 hikers showed up on the day. Many were too tired from the celebrations of the Rugby World Cup victory which we understood, nonetheless, we arose early to welcome our hikers and prepare for an incredibly rewarding hike.
The owners at Sterkfontein Heritage Lodge were excellent hosts.
Each hiker who completed the hike received a complimentary cooling towel.
The trail is 5km
This trail is moderate and well marked.

We followed the route from the fountain at the main entrance and onto the trail to begin our hike of release and rejuvenation.

This trail is moderate. It is a given that good footwear is required to ensure a comfortable hiking experience. Whenever you are hiking, it is wise to be prepared and to take care of your feet. We enjoy our @Merrell hiking footwear.

The start begins with a minor descent then going around toward the waterfall. The trail offers an incredible viewpoint, overlooking the mountains and a retreat below.
Our focus was on Breast Cancer Awareness. We gathered around the fountain upon return from the hike to ponder on a heartwarming talk on the topic.
It was heartbreaking to hear that most of the hikers on the day had lost someone to cancer, but we were able to celebrate the victory of another hiker who is a breast cancer survivor.
She was joined by her husband, and both were dressed in pink including a pink tutu. (They were the recipients of the prize for the best-dressed hikers on the day).
The trail is well-marked. It is pet-friendly.
This venue boasts a stunning restaurant with great service and delicious food.
