Voets Toets Hiking visited Van Gaalen Mountain Biking and Running Trails for another hiking adventure. The trails begin at the popular Van Gaalen Cheese Farm, situated in Skeerpoort, Hartbeespoort. This is a family run farm with over 27 years of experience in producing Gouda cheese and giving its guests a wonderful country visit opportunity.

Flat and easy to navigate, well-marked trail
Merrell shoes; hiking stick and water
Route:
We completed the 10 km trail. It was well marked and a beautiful route with stunning scenery. It was a flat, even trail, so it was easy to navigate, making it suitable for beginners and families. There was an abundance of trees that formed canopies on our walk. The reed tunnel was a unique experience, and the river views were truly peaceful.

Field Notes:
Due to the rain the previous few days, some parts of the route were quite muddy. Our Merrell shoes gave us grip and sturdy footing in this terrain. A hiking stick is not needed but can provide you with stability if preferred.
