Danielsrust Game Farm was the venue for our next Voets Toets Hiking adventure. This farm is steeped in rich family history, with the 5th and 6th generation of family living on the farm. It's situated in the Maropeng Cradle of Humankind area and boasts 1000 hectare of land with 700 head of plains game.
The trails are fairly flat with good markings. It takes you out into the open African plains where you will be greeted by a vast array of game. We were blessed to have seen Springbok, Eland, Zebra, Wildebeest and Vultures. It's not a technical trail, so it's ideal for those with little ones that want to stretch their little legs and expand their energy.
We always recommend Merrell shoes and a walking stick as it makes your journey more comfortable. Going into summer, enough hydration and high energy snacks will keep you energized to complete your walk. Don't forget sunblock and a wide brim hat to keep the African sun rays at bay.
