Training shoes are built for multi-directional movement: lifting, lunges, jumps and side-to-side drills. They have a flatter, more stable base and a firmer midsole so you stay grounded under load. Running shoes are designed for forward motion, with softer, thicker cushioning to absorb impact over distance. For gym sessions and mixed workouts, a training shoe gives you better stability and control.
Training shoes handle short runs well, such as warm-ups, treadmill intervals or sprints within a circuit. For longer distances, a dedicated running or trail running shoe will give you more cushioning and comfort. If your workouts mix running with strength work, a training shoe is the more versatile choice.
Look for a stable, flat-ish base for lifting, good grip for quick changes of direction, and a secure fit that locks your heel and midfoot in place. A durable upper that holds up to rope climbs, burpees and floor work is a bonus. Comfort matters too, especially if you train several times a week.
