Your headwear should sit snugly without pressing on your forehead or temples, and stay put in the wind. Most caps have an adjustable strap or clip at the back, so you can fine-tune the fit. For hats, measure around your head just above your ears and eyebrows, and compare that with the sizing on the product page.

Avoid the washing machine and tumble dryer, which can bend the peak and shrink the fabric. Reshape it while damp and let it air-dry, ideally over a bowl or something round so it holds its shape.
